Grandir en conjuguant le verbe aimer
The drawing of the fifteenth Edition of the Prescription-For-Happiness made 33 kids happy last May 18th as, in a few weeks, they will benefit from a free stay at Camp Papillon, courtesy of Teva Canada.

Close to 400 volunteers took part in the 14th Optimist Work Bee held on Saturday, May 7th at Camp Papillon.

Throughout its rich history, Camp Papillon of the Quebec Society for Disabled Children has become one of the leaders in the field of adapted camps in North America and has become the reference, here as elsewhere, in the art of supervising, accompanying, and entertaining people with special needs. Every year, it multiplies actions and deeds to offer a significant experience in the life of its campers. It constantly improves its facilities, develops new activities’ sites, pilots the best training program in Quebec to some 200 counsellors and support employees hired every summer, reinvents the animation in order to realize the full potential of its campers, offers an unequalled counsellor/camper ratio, and dedicates all its energies to providing high quality cafeteria services.
No other camp has such a well-developed healthcare infrastructure. Camp Papillon nurses and nursing assistants are members in good standing of the OIIQ and the OIIAQ. They provide all required healthcare to the campers 24 hours a day, they are the first caregivers during emergency situations and they closely supervise the work of the health care aides, the nutritionist, and the physiotherapist/occupational therapist.
The grants Camp Papillon receives from the government represent only 13% of its annual budget. Its income rests essentially on the parents contribution and on the generosity of its donors.
Our animation specialists pilot our numerous sites, where many exceptional activities are adapted to the abilities of our campers: fishing, camping, swimming, drama, dancing, painting, astronomy, archery, soccer, pontoon boating, Olympiads, hiking…No time ideed to get bored.
To register your child at Camp Papillon, you must first complete the pre-registration form for the summer 2012. You will later receive the information booklet which contains all the details concerning registration: transportation, medication and treatments, clothing and other items to bring, etc. You must also provide certain information to help us to better prepare to welcome your child, including a medical report.
The cost of a stay at Camp Papillon varies from $1,540 to $2,440, depending on the duration of the stay. Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the Quebec Society for Disabled Children offers to eligible families who register their child at Camp Papillon financial assistance of up to 60% of the total cost of a stay. Financial assistance is determined, among others, by gross family income. Details relative to the Society's Financial Assistance Policy are included in the information booklet.

At the parents request, the stays schedule has been completely reorganized. From now on, from June 28 to August 12, 2012, campers between the ages of 2 to 24 will be able to register for 8, 10, or 15-day stays. We hope that this new schedule will be less restrictive for the families. As for adults aged 25 years and older, a new stay of 10 or 15 days will be held from June 10 to June 24, 2011.
