| A great site of love and solidarity
Each year, volunteers from all over get together for the Papillon Work Bee to participate in the preparation of the site to welcome the first campers just a few days following the event. Numerous groups and companies take part in this adventure, such as Hydro-Québec, the Sûreté du Québec, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Volunteers of the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM), the Samares School Board and the Association des Ami(e)s de Legendre.
There is work for everyone! Carpentry, electricity, plumbing, raking, interior and exterior painting, the talents of each participant is put to good use! After the Papillon Bee, as if by magic, the Camp Papillon site soon regains its original beauty as if there had been no winter at all! The pleasure of working together for the same cause is tangible as the day unfolds in a great party atmosphere.
The Papillon Work Bee is also the opportunity of carry out some wonderful projects. During the last editions of the Bee, the Camp acquired a very spacious library, a terrace with a panoramic view of Lake Pierre and a covered playground which enables the youngster to take part in outdoor activities in case of rain.
All these accomplishments were made possible thanks to the support of numerous organisations and volunteers who unstintingly gave of their time to carry out these projects.
This is what the magic of Camp Papillon is all about!

The Founders of the Papillon Work Bee, retired Officer Michel Doyon and retired Sergeant Jean-Marie Vézina, were honoured by the Sûreté du Québec on the occasion of a special ceremony. The Executive Director of the Sûreté du Québec, Mr. Normand Proulx, also paid a vibrant tribute to retired Sergeant Luc Juteau, to retired Officer Robert Martin, and to Sergeant Daniel Gagné, the other architects of this annual event who, throughout the past two decades, have called upon the admirable efforts of more than 6,000 volunteers.

The Optimiste Bee: what a boost!
Every year, at the beginning of May, the Optimiste Club holds its own work bee at Camp Papillon. More than 400 people gather in Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez to clean the many camp buildings, to rake the grounds and to carry out carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks.
The Optimiste Work Bee is also the stage of annual inaugurations of chalets whose renovations are both funded and carried out by the members. Every year, one more milestone is passed towards the dream to renovate all the small chalets of Camp Papillon’s High-Town.
To all our volunteers, thank you!
