Our mission

Children with disabilities are like all others, with needs, limitations, and dreams of their own. Since 1930, the Quebec Society for Disabled Children has been accompanying youngsters living with a disability to help make their dreams come true. It also assists parents in their efforts to provide care, attention, and support for their child.

To accomplish this mission, the Society favours direct action in the community and offers support services to the families in all spheres of daily life. For 72 years, Camp Papillon has enabled children with disabilities to experience a real vacation in the great outdoors by providing care and activities entirely adapted to their needs. Colonie Les Bosquets Albert Hudon, the Society’s last-born, offers the same services.

In addition, to help parents whose child lives with a disability to find the specific resources they need, the Society pilots Carrefour Papillon, an on-line reference service that lists hundreds of resources offering services directly related to the needs of people with disabilities across the province.

Residence Papillon and Auberge Papillon offer the families respite stays. These services provide the parents with a bit of rest and gives the children the opportunity to have fun and meet other youngsters their own age in a warm family atmosphere.

The Quebec Society for Disabled Children wishes to further extend its action and increase its support to the thousands of children who must learn to confront the daily challenges inherent in living with a disability. To reach this objective, the Society relies on the contribution of the public and private companies from all backgrounds, as well as thousands of volunteers who, driven by the same spirit, join their efforts to help these young butterflies with a broken wing to spread their wings.
