Our little family

Every day, Residence Papillon hosts from eight to twelve youngsters and entrusts them to a team of four or five attentive and dedicated counsellors. In spite of the size of this beautiful family, the same warm environment can be found at both the Residence and Auberge as can be found in the home of each of our visitors. A good mood is the order of the day on weekdays as well as on week-ends.

It’s a wonderful life… even on a Monday morning!
Daily life at Residence and Auberge Papillon reminds us of something very important: life is wonderful! From Monday to Friday, unfortunately for our sleepy heads, school is of course inevitable. However, it’s nothing to dampen their good mood! Bravely, with a smile on their face, our counsellors and youngsters go through their daily routine of getting out of bed right up to their departure for school by bus. Our counsellors then benefit from a little time to put everything back in order before going to school themselves!

At the end of the afternoon, a little snack awaits our young students when they return from school, and an activity is suggested for those who are more energetic. Through a typical ritual of homework, dinner, baths, and moments of well-deserved relaxation, the daily ritual of our young residents is always infused with the same serenity and family atmosphere. It just goes to show that even weekdays can be pleasant!

Their own rhythm
On week-ends, a whole different rhythm is offered to our visitors. It has been a long week so why get up early? Of course, some will disagree with this statement and get out of bed as soon as the sun is up waiting for the morning activity. As for our teenagers, they enjoy Saturday and Sunday morning sleep-ins. In brief, week-ends at the Residence and Auberge Papillon unfold at the rhythm of our resident youngsters.

.............. ............................................................. Frederic and François have been regular visitors at Residence Papillon for many years. They are among those teens who love to spend a few days to forget the humdrum routine of everyday life. When asked what they liked the most at the Residence, they answered without hesitation: “It’s relax!” Indeed, we cannot doubt their affirmation when we see Frédéric wandering all over the Residence. When it’s not sunny or warm enough to go outside, he loves to sunbathe right in the middle of the Residence, no matter what the “traffic” is like around him. There is nothing more simple that to tilt his wheelchair to appreciate the passing of time while observing the little ones livening things up around him. As for François, he has an infectious smile! He comes to the Residence to give a bit of rest to his mother and to get some himself. He then has the opportunity to talk and joke around with others his own age and with the counsellors whom he appreciates very much.

Week-ends at the Residence are also the opportunity for our counsellors to loosen up and carry out the most eccentric activities. It’s one fantastic adventure after another at the Residence and there is no lack of zany characters to brighten our days! Strolls outside, hockey games, arts and crafts workshops are very popular activities among our youngsters. Our counsellors always know how to adapt the activities they offer by taking into consideration the tastes of each youngster.

Jonathan and Christopher are part of these youngsters who obviously prefer sports activities, particularly hockey. So in order to keep in shape until the next friendly hockey game, our two young sportsmen train for long hours during the day… But they don’t stop there! When they have had enough practise, instead of getting some rest, our two brave players have other pastimes… “I like to tickle the counsellors and play tricks on them” declares Christopher who evidently adores the company of Residence Papillon counsellors. “I like to play tug-of-war with the counsellors” declares Jonathan who must make many shudder with his splendid shape of accomplished athlete and star hockey player!

Everyday life at the Residence and Auberge Papillon is filled with magic moments and smiles. The activities offered are varied and adapted to the particular wishes of all our visitors, children and teenagers! As for the counsellors, they are only too pleased to spend time with these young butterflies as they have the opportunity to see them grow every day.

When we asked Christopher if he had a message to give to anyone who would like to experience a stay at Residence and Auberge Papillon, he answers without hesitation: "They can come whenever they feel like it, they are welcome!"

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you soon to our great family!
