with a broken wing
Founded in 1930, the Quebec Society for Disabled Children is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the well-being of children with special needs and the quality of life of their family.
Throughout its rich history, the Society founded Camp Papillon, one of the first specialised camps and the most celebrated in America. It designed a respite program unique in Quebec with its Residence and Auberge Papillon. It created, over twenty five years ago, the very first specialised daycare, the Papillon Daycare, where disabled and non-disabled children learn and have fun together. It enables children living with a physical and/or intellectual disability to develop thanks to its stimulation centre, the Jardin des Papillons. Finally, it allows children to attend daycare thanks to Transport Papillon.
To support the Society is to give these children a chance to be like all others in their personal development. It is also to help entire families to remain united despite the great challenges they must face every day of the year.
Children with disabilities are like butterflies with a broken wing: they are just as beautiful as all others, but they need help to spread their wings.
